Elite shuns models with wide hips

Swagga so bright I don't even need light
They came in large numbers, all of them wanting to be a part of the Elite Model Look competition; however the organisers booted these models out! Reason: They had wide hips!

Oh yes, any African that aspires to be models would have to work very hard at losing enough weight around the hip region. Naturally known to be blessed with flesh around that area, a huge percentage of the models for this year’s Elite Model Look lost out when they were found to be wider than 35 inches around the hips.

Revealing this at a press briefing to unveil the 14 lucky finalists for the 2013 pageant, Elohor Aisen of Beth Models, organisers of the show, noted that the decision to eliminate some of the girls was very difficult.

“We received an unprecedented 1,853 entries from all over Nigeria. Most of these girls were so beautiful; it was painful to see them leave because they failed to meet up with the required statistics and body build.” Aisen said. She added that the standard was set by the parent company, Elite International, the agency known to have discovered supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bundchen, and Cindy Crawford among many others.

According to Aisen, the 14 contestants would participate in a televised boot camp supervised and mentored by a professional team. The purpose is to put them through a session of makeovers, fittings, rehearsals and photo shoots before the grand finale.
In the 2013 face of Elite International, Nigeria damsels stands a chance of earning $150,000, equivalent of N2.4m, modelling contract with Elite Model Management Worldwide, two years contract with Beth Model Management Africa and an all expense paid trip to Paris.
