Less than 2,000 radiographers serve 170m Nigerians

Experts have decried what they termed “acute shortage” of radiographers in Nigeria, as the country, with an estimated population of about 170 million, is said to have less than 2,000 radiographers.

A member of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria, Mr. Udoh Sunday, in an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, said this was responsible for the high incidence of quackery.
He noted that the situation not only affects patients’ lives, it also affects the radiography profession in a negative way.

“What gives us much concern today is our small population as professionals, compared with the population of Nigeria. In all, we are about 2,000, and this number includes those who have travelled abroad in search of better opportunities
