Jungle justice is inhuman!!!

I read with shock and anger the killing of a 25-year-old undergraduate of Delta State University, Ifechukwude Nwainokpor, and his friend, identified simply as Kazeem by some hoodlums in the presence of Policemen attached to the Badagry Police Division, Lagos State.

An eight-minute video clip of the gruesome killing showed the two victims  begging for their lives and a chance to identify themselves. They were handcuffed together and covered in their own blood. A policeman was seen interviewing the boys. One of the hoodlums, holding a sharp object attempted to cut off the private part of one of the victims. They were beaten to death with sticks and tyres round their necks

And just like the ALUU 4 killing, an irate mob could be seen in the video, shouting, “die, die, burn them, burn them.”

 Ugonna, Lloyd, Tekena, and Chidiaka, were paraded naked in public, beaten mercilessly to death on the accusation that they stole phones and Laptops in the off campus community on october 5th, 2012 in Aluu, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State. Today, the case is still in court and justice begging to be executed.

Jungle justice is meted out on common men. People whose means of breakfast are not guaranteed by the time they go to bed at night; People who get oppressed because they cannot get justice anywhere in the country; people whose lives are daily being frustrated because of the failure of our system. No job, no food, no water, no security, no light, no school, nothing, yet it is this same people that take laws into their hands when the opportunity present itself.

We are gradually becoming a class of people losing the human nature God created us with, but unfortunately we are losing it on the very people that do not deserve it.

How can we move forward as a people when we do not respect the rule of law. How can peace reign in a land that snuff life out of its own without mercy. How can you obtain mercy when you do not show mercy. Where has your humanity and milk of human kindness gone?
